Thursday Picturama

today's picture was taken in west texas. around el paso. where exactly? i can't tell you, b/c it is a private ranch that newbs like you can't goto. i went there on a texas archaeology society rock art field school. it was a cool trip. two days of learning about pre contact and some post contact native american rock art. i was the youngest person by an average of 30 years. we'd go out in the afternoons to farms with well documented rock art centers and i would film and take pictures. it was really cool. schleping that camera around, especially for the miles of hiking and cave devling was a lot of fun. thankfully i had my favorite pants with me. those things are sweet. victor and i had a really good time. we got to meet and re-meet some of the biggest names in texas archaeology.
the pose is b/c i'm about 1 inch from the edge of a huge ravine. it might look farther, but up on that mesa, with the wind blowing, it was pretty intense. can you imagine if you were a cowboy? just riding around here? it would be so cool.

!!bonus picture!!

this deer was the attraction at the site above. it is super famous and almost completely preserved. any guesses on how that can be? here's a hint: it is because it is on the ceiling of a deep overhang. i was on my back when i took this.
