t-minus 15

15 days to go. I'm gonna try and post a post everyday until I get on the plane to Fiji.

Today I'm gonna go over my basic schedule for those of you who need it.

March 10th- goto a reflexologist. I've never been, but I don't think it could hurt. I'm feeling like these next 15 days are going to be stressful, in mostly good ways. I don't want to carry any negative energy into Fiji and New Zealand. (do I sound like the son of two hippies or what?)

March 13th- drive to my old home. Nacogdoches. Hopefully the 13th will be a reunion with all my brothers. Pretty much everyone I know will be at the party the next night, so this might be the only time I get to see Max (coming in from DC thankyouverymuch) and others for any serious amount of catch-up time.

March 14th- Gettysburg. THE party of the year. If you didn't get an invite, it means we've never gotten super drunk in Nacogdoches together. Or that I forgot, and I'm sorry. You should still plan on getting your shit done before the 14th, as the world will most likely end. All of the great parties in Nac have been theme parties, so when it came time to name my going away party, I knew I needed something epic. I thought of all the most epic and possibly destructing things in the history of people getting together and Gettysburg is up there. As my boy Kevin B said the other day, after I told him of my fear of imminent alcohol poisoning- "Just make sure you take some people out with you. Hell the party is called Gettysburg. You better not go down without a fight". True Kevin, true. But if I'm offered 12 shots by 9pm, things are looking poor in regards of me making the after party.
For those of you not on facebook, the link above won't work. The party is at Flashback Cafe, my "Cheers" of a home. 40 people confirmed, 20+ maybes. We're taking that place over.

March 15th- recuperate. Maybe drive back from hospital to Austin.

March 16th- 20th- Only a vague hint of a going away party is in the air. But that is enough for me to look forward to. This week will be mainly spent repacking boxes of stuff, moving said boxes into the attic and attempting to settle on a final pack list. I need to have everything I own in 1 backpack, as well as my messenger bag which will hold computer and other randomness. More on the pack in later days I imagine.

March 21st- Dynamo game! I've already been to one this year, but this is the season opener- and the only game I'll be able to attend of the entire season. I don't really want to talk about this. It hurts. The Dynamo have given me something to care about for the last 3 years without fail.

March 22nd- 24th- I will be sitting in my room not getting hurt or sick. I will have my pack on, keys in hand ready to goto the airport. Seriously, don't expect to see me during this time. I'll be on lockdown. Every drop of energy going to not mucking this up.

March 25th- Fly from Austin to LA where my good friend and cousin Bruce will pick me up! He lives with his partner in LA and has graciously allowed me to stay the night with him. Think about that, here's a guy who I've only met a hand full of times and he's willing to take time out of his super busy schedule to help me. When my travels are eventually done, I hope to look back on this as the first of many such altruistic acts. And I don't think I'll forget that it started with family.

March 26th- April 4th- Arrive in Fiji early in the morning. Get a ride from my host's driver (picking up the requested duty free booze beforehand). Hopefully my gracious hosts, who I met on couchsurfing.com will have some kind of ..... wait. I don't care what happens. As long as Fiji really looks like this, then I don't care what I do. After a few days with them, I'm off to begin my year long love/hate affair with hostels of all kinds.

April 4th- Arrive in Auckland NZ. I plan on spending a week in the city (NZ's biggest) and then getting the hell out of Dodge to go work on an organic farm/hostel fixing websites and picking weeds and whatever. More on that tomorrow though.

Thanks for sticking with me. If you just got the link to my blog, I'll give it a bit of an overview.
I'm not sure it is really for everyone. If you just want a post card and that's that, then drop me an email with your address and I'll do it! But if you want pictures, musings, lots of cursing and a ton of other personal insights, then this is the place for you. I'd advise that you check out a post before showing the kids. Sometimes I'll cuss of have an adult story to share. (I also make no apologies for any old posts you venture to read.) Just fair warning. Hopefully everything will be happy golucky and there wont be any need for me to brood, but alas, I doubt that will be the case. But other than a few down times, which are inevitable when adventuring, I'm going to be doing my best to share everything I can stand to post. Tons of pictures for sure! Net access will be a challenge for many reasons.

I want to leave you with my first post. The reason behind this blog, entitled 'Sean sees the world' was and is to get good at blogging, so that when I do really get out there I'll be able to communicate and share with friends and family. I think I've come a long way in 2+ years. But look! Still among my must bring list are a few things that are too familiar...
