very exciting

i'm so close. i think i shall call this stage three.

well. wait. let me do something real quick...

there. i just copied one of my favorite songs into my rite in the rain notebook. hopefully by the time i move to NZ, i'll have all of the essentials right there in the back of that book, with plenty of room to take notes, draw cool stuff and doodle.
between dead prez, brand new, the weakerthans, and dylan, there are going to be a few. not to mention a few addresses and phone numbers.

it has a ton of geologic mapping tools, as well as rock charts, epoc scales, unit conversions, a few archaeology notes from previous jobs, as well as a North arrow with inches and centimeters for showing scale in photos.

what else should go in my notebook?
can you guess which song was first?
good luck!

this seemingly small act confirms my recent suspicions.
1. i'm onto stage three.
2. i don't remember what stage i'm on, but this feels very 3-like.
if you can show that i've already talked about stage 3, or higher, then please let me know, so i don't feel like a fool.

in my mind, it goes like this:
stage 1- realize that i want to travel. (see this blog's first post)
stage 2- quit my job and have a semi-plan. check.
stage 3- be so far committed that it is just time to get it done with. well, that sounds a little harsh. maybe a better stage 3 description is this-
stage 3a- move towards a prepared state. including the buying of materials, the visa application process, and the accommodation looking into. not to mention the drastic reduction of possessions.

yeah!
