dreams

Some cool dreams last night. Well one was weird. One was weirder.
First I dreamt that my room mate was mad at me and lots of yelling and he made me move out. I don't know what I had done, but it is the farthest thing from the truth that would ever happen. ** OH! I just remembered more. I didn't put these "water tablets" into the pet's water bowls. It made the room mates very unhappy.

Secondly, I had a dream that I had a little baby girl. It was a cool feeling and I remember being told that I had a daughter. The only thing I wanted to do with her was ride my bike to my dad's (now burnt) house. It took forfuckingever to get her ready and to hook up this walkie talkie system that helped me know if she was scared or not. Eventually we only rode to the park I grew up at. It is less than halfway. Part of the reason we didn't go farther is b/c I didn't have a bike seat for her. But she was safe, just riding on the handlebars.

That dream is directly related to this last twitter post, which I think sums it up nicely:
"i fix-xed my bike yesterday! and i used a book my dad gave me years ago. he bought it in Col. in 1971 after a few years of hitchhiking!"

fire fire fire fire

yeah, so my dad's house kinda burned down. soooooo that was a bummer. my room is above the destroyed room. he wasn't there and no one was hurt. his stuff is pretty much all gone. but it is just stuff.
i was feeling pretty emotional about it when i was there, but now i'm not really that excited about it, for whatever reason. i'm sure that will change when i get back to dallas this weekend.
there is a lot of stuff that i was happy to have in storage at his house. stuff that i didn't want until i was 45 or so. but i guess i'll take it now.

pronounced fishta-ble

The final Mac Hall comic comes to mind. I feel like a regular and comforting item is gone. On the other hand, I have replaced it with something that makes me feel a lot more grown up. More like an adult. I guess all of this needs to be illustrated, so here you go. The last days of the first piece of furniture that I bought ($5 garage sale style) and the new age of the first piece of furniture that I made (age 7 thank you very much).

The hole in the arm rest. The broken foot stool feature. The grossness of the fabric. All of that added up to a very comfortable chair. I've had it since 7th grade. That would make me about...11? 12?
Now, on the other hand the fishtable (pronounced fishta-ble) is a piece of art. Cold steel that was welded as a favor to my dad (and a 6 pack of Dr. Pepper that I vividly remember giving to the welder personally). Glass that I recently found out cost well over a $100. The broken stone was laying in our backyard (dad is a stone mason) and to me the fracture looked like a water line as seen sideways. I first drew the fish outline from a laminated scuba fish guide. Then I drew etched it in with a nail, then a manual chisel, then with an air chisel. I'm very proud of it.

Obviously, I'll get some better pictures this weekend so you can see the details. These are just from my phone.

I'll miss my TV/game playing/computer watching chair, but everything comes to an end.

i like to call it "lost wages"

If you were lucky enough to see Frisky Dingo when it was on, then you get that joke. Basically, it was one of the greatest cartoons of the modern age. I hope it returns to finish the second season.

I'll be leaving for Dallas in about 3 hours. Tomorrow morning we leave for Vegas in the 5am range. I'm really pumped about being there and seeing what kind of trouble I can get into. Hopefully the fact that I am a 9th wheel won't matter. I'm happy with being out on my own.
I'm not much into gambling, but I do have a few bets to place for some friends. I hope we win.

When I'm in Dallas tonight I'm going to give my dad my laptop. That will be cool. I'm really glad to help him out since his computer is dead. He did pay for over half of the damn thing.

Comicsunder30seconds.blogspot.com is really taking off. Chrissy is going to admin while I am away. I think the site will be fine under her guidance. I hope more people send in comics. They are always better when unsolicited.

I will try and post from Lost Wages, but it might be a funny comic that goes over toCU30S.

I want to encourage everyone to see Juno. I watched it for a second time (a rarity for me) and it was even better! The soundtrack is cool too. Who knew they still made soundtracks. Wait. Did they mean to sell that? Do they still sell CDs? Why?

big factor

talked to the parental units tonight. that's always good. i forget to call them sometimes, but it isn't because i don't want to talk to them. i wish they would call me more. i like hearing that they are doing well. Grandpa too. i don't think he's called me more than 3 times in his life. but he is a post all by himself. that man is amazing. i really like talking with him. he has changed so much in his life. i hope my personal growth is as exponential as his has been.

all three of them are really behind my big plans for moving to europe. at first i didn't realize how much that would mean to me, but now i think it is going to be a huge factor.

well, i'm going out tonight. we'll see what comes of that.
then tomorrow i'm going to houston for the dynamo and mabeuf craziness. if the dynamo don't win we're going to raze the city. its going to be great.

burn the house. find the foundation
