this post was written the day Max got the gloves, but posted when i recieved the picture of him in the gloves.

Fitting that on the day I decide to grow a pair and buy plane ticket to Alaska, that mabeuf gets the Pumas gloves that I sent him. You'll remember that he bought me a pimptight Dynamo jersey a few times, and in return, I buy him Pumas stuff. Stuff, plural, because no one thing can ever equal the greatness of a Dynamo jersey. So far he has a sweet jersey, soccer shorts*, ashtray/shotglass/lighter/figurine combo, socks(?), keychain, braclet, and some other stuff. I just sent him some goalie gloves and a patch.
One time I went to DC to visit and we both wore our Pumas jerseys, mine is the away and his is the home. Anyway- we went to hang out with these really cool and really fancy girls** and we're both in our jerseys, when they opened the door they were like "uhh...you guys know we're fancy and we're going out to bars...and we'll be in public...right??"
We probably said something along these lines: "uhh...you know that there is only one way we could be dressing nicer, and we wore our Dynamo jerseys for the last two days...right?"

I'm going to Fairbanks, Alaska on Sept. 17th to the 25th. ESAD newbs. That also means that Max owes me bigtime. When I'm chillin' in Portugal he will have to come give me blumpkins. (i kid, i kid, but he will have to visit.)

The following conversation happened when he got the gloves:

Mexico lazyness

flash fun

i can finally see the mexico map in my head and now- partially in code. i'm really proud that i taught myself flash and actionscript. i can do most things that i think about, with only a little help from lynda or google searches. i think maybe i'll spend some time today making some snippets of stuff that i don't remember so well, but use a lot. *

in other tech news, we had another meeting about our million dollar grant. it is coming up soon. i have to spend 60k on servers and backup systems and a new rack. i don't really know where to begin. kreg is gonna help me though. the flash server is going to be so cool. i hate that more of our stuff isn't in flash. it will be soon though. well not soon soon. but soon.

in non tech news**, i had a great, nay- amazing night last night. non of it is fit to print though, so you'll have to imagine. but juice was involved***.

action script

i love working with flash. it is easy to draw and make animations. i don't know why, but photoshop gives me a headache.

flash is the wave of the future. if only the teachers and schools that use our site knew about it. they seriously have some of the worst system policies and general computer practices in the world. we had two teachers in a one week span not know how to make a folder on the desktop. one teacher, who i like and really respect as an educator and artist had a folder on her thumb drive called "the____cantmakeafolder folder". where the ___ was her name. her husband had make the folder at her request.

i shouldn't make fun of them, and i certainly don't look down on them, but part of the educational tool kit in this era is computer savvy. as an educational resource, we owe it to them to help bring basic computer skills into the classroom and their personal repertoire. we've done a lot of good up to this point, but i think we're going to have to move away from basic html and into flash objects and even entire sections.
and so i begin working on the mexico map page in flash. both the html and flash versions will soon have links to videos relating to the states as well as lesson plans, photos, documents and other resources.
